Stone Giants
During the time of Carkade the Stone Giants were compelled to leave their territory by entering into pact with Aves Reva. His return puts the Stone Giants at risk as he enslaved so many last time in the “dreaming”.
Stone Giants fear the enslavement of their people to whoever controls the various Covenant stones.
Stone Giants will not cross into the territory that was once consecrated, but is now deconsecrated as part of the Covenant of Confinement.
A number of covenant stones were created, which bonded the Stone Giants in a number of ways to the Carkade:
- Covenant of Confinement - limitations placed on where the Stone Giants may dwell and roam
- Covenant of Bondage - specifies the labour tribute requirement of the Stone Giants to the rightful possessor of the covenant
- Covenant of Surety - specifies number of Stone Giants to be given up each year to the rightful possessor of the covenant
- Covenant of Hexspeak - compels the Stone Giant polemancers to wield the sacred speaking stones of war
- Covenant of Impressment - compels the Stone Giants to make war on behalf of the rightful possessor of the covenant
- Covenant of remembrance - compels the Stone Giants to recall their debts each time
The possession of all compels the Stone Giants to recognise the possessor as their one and true ruler - the possessor does not need to be a “rightful possessor”
A rightful possessor are the Carkade and Aves Reva’s true witnesses
There are persistent images of enslaved Stone Giants endlessly turning over the reading stones containing high level spells as part of the ritual that created the Nightmare Children.
- In Game
- Wolves Reach was under assault from Stone Giants for the sin of allowing their enemy (Duergar lead by High Chief Hoom Caliginous) to cross their territory with a weapon that could be used to destroy the Stone Giants
- The Stone Giant Clan of Athamon wantsed the return of the Clan Chief’s son who has been a dreamwalker for more than a decade.
- The Duergar were trying to reclaim the sacred objects of Aves Reva that Zolim has affixed to his body, primarily the Covenant of Impressment
- The other objects affixed to the Dreamwalker were:
- A divine metal horn crafted by one of the Major Arcana that served Aves Reva - is an artefact that can be used as part of a summoning ritual
- The divinely created granite head of a the Lynx - a magical item that can be used as part of a divination ritual
- A divinely crafted black-white mask that allows its wearer to become a “container” for the Major Arcana as part of a summoning ritual
- A divinely crafted ethereal pinwheel that allows the user to channel power directly from the major arcana
- A Blue Pearl that allows the possessor to enter the presence of Aves Reva following the correct ritual - then vanishes back into the quanti until it reforms at another time (could be past or present)
- Blue Chalk - through ritual and communion allow the user to access elder magic in spheres of nightmare, darkness, manipulation and imagination
